Girls Incorporated® Identity Programs

Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy®- helps girls identify ways and reasons to avoid early pregnancy.  The program fosters girls’ communication skills, provides basic health education, and encourages girls to plan for the future through four age-appropriate components:  Growing Up! Body Basics(SM) Growing Together(SM), Will Power/Won't Power(SM), Taking Care of Business(SM), and Health Bridge(SM).

My Girlfriend Zelda®- is an introductory anatomy, physiology, health and hygiene program.  Girls learn about the body’s organs by becoming surgeons who operate on Zelda, a soft, cloth, and life-size teaching doll with flaps that open to reveal her internal organs.

Operation SMART®- builds girls’ skills and interests in science, math, and technology.  Hands-on activities give girls the opportunity to explore, ask questions, and solve problems, all of which help to build self-confidence.  Participation in this program encourages girls to pursue careers in the fields of science, math, and technology.

BoneZone(SM)- is a program to promote bone health and reduce the risk of osteoporosis later in life.  Girls learn the importance of weight-bearing physical activity and calcium consumption through physiology, sport/movement, and nutrition.

Project Bold®- provides a continuum of age-appropriate and gender-specific violence prevention programming to give girls and young women the skills, strategies, and support to lead safer lives: Kid-Ability™, Action for Safety(SM), and Living Safe & Strong(SM)

Media Literacy®- integrates media, technology and civic engagement to help girls build 21st Century skills in a comprehensive after-school program.  The program encourages and equips young women to think analytically about how media messages are constructed and provide opportunities for them to put into practice what they learn by crafting and communicating their own messages and participating in public dialogue around issues important to them.

Economic Literacy®- enhances girls’ financial competence and confidence; empowers girls to recognize early on that they can exercise control over their financial future; and promotes within girls a sense of economic justice. The program is divided into four age-based components: She's on the Money(SM); Dollars, Sense and Me(SM); Equal Earners, Savvy Spenders(SM); and Futures and Options(SM).

Girls Advisory Board (GAB)- is a youth advisory board comprised of girls from throughout Los Angeles County.  High school-aged girls work as a team to learn about, and put into practice the principles of:  Philanthropy, Economic Literacy, Board Governance, and Empowering Girls.

AfterSchool KidzLit™-  helps girls become better and more motivated readers and improve their understanding of themselves and others.  Girls explore issues more deeply through art, drama, music and journal writing.
